We arrived here yesterday after a 270 miles drive from Madison, Florida, where we paid over 50 Dollars for one night. We thought we could get in under the Passport America Program for just half the price, but since the Good Sam Club bought Passport America, they do as they please, changing time frames as they please - so we stayed for one night under the Good Sam Program. The Florida Toll Road System got a hold of our wallet the day before, when we left Apopka. After we felt driving around in circles, from one Toll Road to another and then to the Turnpike, we thought our GPS System was faulty. When we asked on a Toll booth how we can escape to I-75 North, the nice lady in there told us that it was the final paying before the Turnpike will join I-75 North, she had held her hand open for another 12 Dollars. We paid 18 Dollars overall that day ( well - we have 3 axles underneath the trailer....) Yesterday we were setting up camp after having been on the road for 6 hrs and 15 min. ( fueling, having lunch in the trailer, several restroom stops and Visitor Center stop to get a new street map of Alabama.and had still one more hour to relax as usual because of entering the Central US Timezone in Western Florida. Styx River RV Resort is owned by Ocean Canyon Properties, but we still can get reservations under the Resorts of Distinction Plus Program ( associated with the Western Horizon Resorts), where we pay only 3 Dollars per night inclusive everything, even 50 AMP electricity. We have been assigned the lot # E 8...the last time on our way to Florida we stood on lot # E 5 . This place is not directly in Robertsdale, it is rather next to I-10 (Exit 53) on the property of the former Water World, on Water World Road. It is a delightful resort and has a huge clubhouse, so we can borrow jigsaw puzzles and magazines, exchange books etc. Today I will use the Laundry for drying the loads I washed in my own washing machine. They offer nice meals and BQ's, but we always cook our own meals, it saves us money....And we do not have to buy drinking water, it tastes clean and good. While I was caring for the laundry, Dieter reviewed our itinerary, sometimes we have to make changes as we go and I made phone calls to reserve 2 places further ahead... During this visit in StyxRiver Resort we visited Brenda and Paul and were invited to a wonderful dinner with her parents attending. That afternoon was pure fun. We visited the little baby goats, got a golf cart excursion to the borders of the big property and fun with the Angus calves, who ran behind the golf cart and had fun with us. The following pictures show me with Brenda and Paul and the little goats. Inside the house we were greeted by the two cats, they seemed to remember us from last visit in the fall 2012. Brenda visited Dieter and me shortly before we left Robertsdale. Some tears were shed....Brenda is very close to my heart........ This picture was taken by me on April 12th - nature is a great artist!!
